Moving!

I don't have a whole lot of time, but wanted to keep everyone posted. We got the okay from the builder that we could go ahead and move our stuff in this weekend instead of waiting until closing, which is scheduled for Tuesday, September 1. This is a good thing and a bad thing. I'm a HUGE procrastinator and was pushing it for me to be ready to move by Tuesday, well now, I have to be ready within 48 hours. Just pray that my body will allow me to work hard and everything will come together. God has truly blessed us with this new house and I know He will help us with this move, its just a little overwhelming right now! We'll keep you guys posted as we can!

New Decorations

Sorry I have been a little slack on blogging lately, we're trying to wrap up things around here for the big move. One of the most exciting things for me, is to get new space to decorate for. What makes me even more happy is when I get stuff at great prices. Anyone who knows me, knows I LOVE to bargain shop! We have a Goodwill literally less than a mile from our house, and its a real nice, clean store. I head up that way about once a week to see what's "new" up there. (To me, its kind of like a perpetual garage sale). Anyway, I went in there yesterday and walked out of there with some really good buys.

Here's a lamp I got there yesterday, that is like brand new, that works, and all it needs is a shade. Price: $9.00!

Here is a decorative vase to put on a bookshelf. Price: $8.00! (this item still had on the original price from World Market and was sold for over $25.00)

Here is a picture and decor I bought for the basement. My parents were so gracious to give us 2 leather recliners and a cream colored couch, so I wanted to get a picture that would help tie all that together. I got the picture at JCPenny's for less than $30.00, and I'm going to hang 2 sconces on either side of the painting (in picture to the right) got both of those at JCP for more than 50% off and then found this cool bowl with decorative balls,(on the floor to the left of the painting) which have a lot of the same colors that are in the painting at Goodwill yesterday too, for only $6.00! I was super excited!
The last picture, isn't the best, but I was going to show you the decor we picked out for the kids bathroom. No great bargains, but thought it was cute. We are going to paint the walls a light aqua color.
My parents and Ryan and I all took turns painting up at the new house this last weekend. I meant to take pictures but I keep forgetting my camera. Anyway, we got the basement done and Adriana's room. We had picked out a color for Adriana's room, but it ended up being so bright, that it practically burned your eye balls, so we went back and got a shade lighter. I like it a lot better now. I will try to post pictures of what is done, when I get them taken. Anyway, still don't know a closing date, probably next week sometime. Have lots to do before now and then, but thought I would share some of our new decorations with you!

Big Girl Underwear

I just have a few minutes, because today we are painting up at the new house and trying to pack, but I wanted to write something funny that Adriana was saying last night. I was in the kitchen cooking dinner and Ryan and Adriana was putting laundry in the washing machine. As we are potty training Adriana, she as gotten to pick out her own "big girl underwear" and has become aware of the fact that everyone wears underwear. Anyway, as Ryan was handing laundry to her to put in the machine, I would hear her say, "A's big girl underwear....Mommy's big girl underwear...Daddy's big girl underwear". I was cracking up at her calling Ryan's underwear "big girl underwear". Too funny!

Cat Fights and Giggles

I have been blessed this week. My parents have taken Adriana 2 days so I could pack/relax and get some errands run. The other day I was here packing and saw Zoe all fired up about something. Well, one of the cats that she as gotten in a fight with before, was on the deck and that cat and Zoe was having a stare down. I grabbed my camera to catch on tape how crazy Zoe sounds when she sees another cat, however as soon as I turned it on that cat pawed at Zoe through the door and Zoe sounds really crazy. Unfortunately, I ran out of room on my memory card, so its only about 3 seconds long. Anyway, when Adriana got home that evening, I showed the video to her and she thought it was the funniest thing. She kept playing it over and over again. She was laughing and then mimicking Zoe's sound that she made. It was pretty funny. Zoe doesn't find humor in her misfortune, but Adriana does.

Getting around

Man, I'm starting to believe what my doctor told me. The second pregnancy is a lot harder on your body than your first. I'm in constant pain. I have had a bad back for many years and was actually a concern of mine when I was pregnant with Adriana, but everything seemed to work out okay. This go around, its another story. I'm in pain literally about 20 hours out of the day. Sometimes its not as bad as others, but its still there. I would rank my pain between a 6-8 (on a scale from 1-10) all the time. I don't mean to be a baby, but its really frustrating and slows me down so much. I need to get so much packed before we move in less than 2 weeks, but can't hardly pack a box without calling it a day. Why do I always move when I'm pregnant? My parents have been great to come out and watch Adriana and help me pack, I'm very thankful to have them close by.
We have a lot still to get done before the move. Ryan worked on the garage and getting it all packed up and somewhat organized this last weekend so that helped a lot, but my oh my, is there ever a ton more left to do. I know it will get done, and I'm hoping the builder will give us a couple of days to slowly move in, but I don't know that for sure.
Hope all is well with everyone. I know school is starting back up for many kids, Adriana goes back in a couple of weeks, we are both looking forward to that. Have a great day and get out there and enjoy whats left of summer!

Doctor's Appointment

Today I had my blood sugar tested at the doctors office. I HATE getting my blood drawn! I know that's the least of my problems when having a baby, but still, no fun! Anyway, I have gained another 7lbs in a month. I am REALLY trying not to gain as much weight as I did with Adriana. I gained close to 60lbs with her, and was still lugging around 30lbs of that when I got pregnant this time. My goal is not to gain more than 30lbs or so with this pregnancy, but after today's weigh in, I'm feeling defeated. I need to cut out the pizza and Chinese buffets and sodas and I might stay on track. Its just so hard when your pregnant and you THINK you are craving something. My back has been hurting me so bad, that I need to be exercising but instead, I'm saving my energy up to pack.
The baby is due in about 12 weeks, and I know that will be here and gone before we know it. My next appointment is in 2 weeks. My goal: not to gain more than 2lbs. Yeah right!

Hush Puppies

Me and Adriana went out to lunch today and decided to go to KFC/Long John Silvers. I was craving some chicken strips but once I was in there, the fish kind of sounded good. (I use to love the fish, dipped in Malted Vinegar, but when I was pregnant with Adriana, I ate there when I was still getting sick just about everyday and let me tell you, its not that great going down, but its REALLY not good coming back up. I gave it up for awhile, but late in my pregnancy, about a month before she was due, I ate there again and had the worse indigestion. I haven't eaten there since then. I feel brave trying it again while pregnant, but so far, so good.) Anyway, I got the fish and fries and hush puppies. I don't like hush puppies so I cut one in half and asked Adriana if she wanted to try it. She asked, "Mama, whats that?". I told her it was a hush puppy. She took a bite and started to pant like a dog. Then she kept calling it, "Puppy dog chicken". It was so cute! Every time she would take a bite, she would pant. At the end of lunch I asked her if she was done with her lunch and she said yes, so I threw it away and she started to cry saying, "where did puppy dogs go?". Too cute!

Me and my belly

Here are some pictures taken of me and my ever growing belly at 26 weeks. Of course, Adriana had to get in on the action too.

Homemade Portrait Studio

We were bored this afternoon, so I took my camera out and tried to take some pictures. Adriana is a ham, as we all know, so she LOVED this. She did better than I thought she would. She didn't want to do it for too long, but for about 10 minutes she was open to posing for the camera. Here are some of my favorites.

Our Toy Story

Last week while Ryan was in the attic getting clothes down for the garage sale, Ryan came across this old "Woody" doll, from the movie "Toy Story". Adriana has really taken to him. He has a string on his back that you pull and he says different sayings from the movie. Adriana has never seen the movie, but nevertheless, she likes him. Anyway, one of his sayings is, "There's a snake in my boot". The other day, she had the doll in the van and her and Ryan ran somewhere and Ryan said out of no where, she pulled his string, and he said this saying, and she said, "there's a snake in my flip flop". We thought this was so funny.

So it just dawned on me that we have about 23 days until closing on our house. I haven't packed one box yet, and let me tell you, we have A LOT of junk to pack! I just got boxes today, so I better get crackin'.
Other than the stress of packing and hoping our loan goes through (which we won't know for a couple of weeks), we have been doing good. We've mainly just been hanging out around the house lately. We had our garage sale this last weekend and did pretty good. We didn't really have any big stuff to get rid of (except a TV, which we still have). Mainly sold all Adriana's baby clothes. Its was really sad and hard for me to get rid of stuff. For some reason, I tend to "mark up" the price of the clothes that I really liked and put a quarter on stuff I didn't really care about. Isn't it funny how we put higher prices on things that mean more to us? I still had TON of clothes and shoes left over, so I'm trying to take them to resale stores to see if I can get a little extra cash that way.
I'm at less than 100 days until baby #2 comes. That blows my mind, because it will be here before you know it. He's a busy little fellow, he moves and kicks a lot. Of course, every time I call Ryan over to feel him move, he stops. Same thing happened when I was pregnant with Adriana.
Speaking of Adriana, I took her to her first movie theater experience today. During the summer a local movie theater puts on free movies on Wed and Thurs. for little kids. This is the last week, and the first time we've done it. I wasn't wild about taking her to the movie that was playing, "Happy Feet". I think she had a good time, she just got bored REAL quick with it and only lasted about 30 minutes, which I knew that would happen. It was free, so I didn't mind. I think she liked watching the movie on the big screen and seeing all the other boys and girls there. I also made it special by bringing candy and a soda for her (which isn't something she gets a whole lot of.).
Well, I guess I have put off long enough what needs to be done, PACKING! If anyone wants to come over and pack, don't hesitate. I know its a hobby for a lot of you out there! If you pack, I'll cook! :)

Through Different Eyes

I have been thinking a lot lately on different life subjects, nothing real deep or profound, something as simple as public bathrooms and how gross they are. Its funny, when you have a kid, you look at things through different eyes. I think as Adriana gets older and goes through different stages and phases in life, my eyes will be open to many more "new" things that I never gave a second thought to, until I had kids. Here are some examples:

Public Restrooms
My Thoughts Before Kids (BK):
"Get in, Get out, flush with my foot and touch as little as possible"

My thoughts Now:
(Now that we are potty training, Adriana thinks she needs to go into every restroom.) "Why does she insist on putting her hands all over the toilet seat, touching the handle to flush, and pretty much making sure she touches every surface in the place? So gross!"

Parents Worry
BK:
"Why do my parents worry so much about me? Don't they know I'm fine?"

Now:
"I hope Adriana is warm enough, while she is sleeping. Is she getting enough to eat? How is she doing with me not there with her at school?, Is she getting a cold or just allergies?..."
Okay, Mom and Dad, I understand now why you worried so much.

Kids Screaming in the Store
BK:
"Why can't you control your kid? Just take them out back and teach them a thing or two. My kid will never act like that!"

Now:
"Yes, that's my kid crying for no reason in the middle of Wal-Mart, so why are you staring at me?"

There are many daily activities and behaviors that open my eyes to what every parent goes through. Its a challenge everyday, especially with a 2 year old. Somehow we all get through these experiences and hopefully it makes us better parents and in return we can make our children better.
