Our Day Out

Our Tour Guide, the black cat

The Playground and the barn with the animals

Today we went on a field trip of sorts, just me and Adriana. There is a new park that is open called Wilson Rutledge Farm. We have been there one other time with our church for a picnic, but I decided to go today to get out and enjoy this beautiful weather. We had a great time! Adriana loved looking at all the animals. They also have a pretty cool play area that she enjoyed too. There was a little black cat that was our tour guide the entire time we were there. He looked just like Zoe but was all black and Adriana LOVED him and loved following him around. I have a couple of videos posted. One is where we were looking at the roosters and they kept crowing. Its not all that exciting to watch, and Adriana really didn't know what to think of them at first. After a while she kept making the noises they were making, that is in the second video. The footage isn't that great, because she insisted on walking with me holding on to my pant leg. After we left the Farm we went to Chick-fil-A to see the other side of chickens, the sadder side (well, for them anyway). We had a good time and it was great getting out of the house and taking her to a place that she loved so much.

Our weekend

Adriana not wanting to pose for me.

Adriana giving the scarecrow a kiss.

My parents came down this weekend to house hunt. They found some they really liked, but don't like the location really, so we're still looking. I know one will pop up that will suit them to a "T" its just waiting for it to "pop" up is the hard part. I pretty much spent the whole weekend with them house hunting. I think on Saturday we were looking before 9am and didn't get home till after 6:30pm or so, it was a long day!
I have to tell this story on my mom. We went to the mall on Saturday to eat lunch and to kill a few minutes while we waited for our meeting with the realtor. Now as you know, I have had a recent traumatic experience with a hair cutting incident (although I'm really over it) but nevertheless, this statement from my mom didn't help. She said "look over there at that person standing over by the counter, they look a lot like you, your profile and hair cut, etc." I waited for the person to turn around to see what she was talking about, I did a double take. My mom went on and on about this person and how similar they look like me and I looked and it was defiantly a 14 or 15 year old BOY! Thanks mom! It was hilarious and me and my dad thought it was funny. I said, "mom, that is a boy". Mom's response, "oh, oh, sorry, well it just looked like he had some of your features". So either that guy looked like a woman or I look like a teenage boy, you pick, I'm sure most will agree on the latter part of that statement! :) I thought it was so funny and had a good time razzing my mom about it.
Other than being called a boy, not much else went on this weekend. Here are a couple of pictures of Adriana that we took on our front porch, their not the best, but its better than nothing.
Well, I hope all is having a great start to the work week. Have a great day!

"Its Okay Baby"

I finally got registered to vote today! Nothing like waiting till the last minute. While I was at the DMV filling out paperwork, there was a mom and daughter duo sitting behind me. The daughter had just gotten her licence picture taken and was just sitting there saying, "My hair is too puffy, mom, I wish they would let me take it again." Her mom's response, "Its okay baby, I think it will look great, its okay baby". "Its okay baby" was all the mom could say, the WHOLE time I was in there. Sure you want your licence picture to look good, but lets face it, its just a law in life that its not going to turn out like a professional photography shoot, get over it! I was just thinking how shallow this girl was to keep going on and on about her picture and then I thought, "well maybe she's 16 years old and this is her first one", I could understand that completely. The first time I took my drivers test, I got all dolled up for my photo, but didn't pass the test. By the third time, I had given up hope for passing the test, so I didn't fix myself up that much and sure enough, I passed the test and had that shot on my drivers licence for the next 4 years. Anyway, I had gotten back up to get my wallet out of my car and looked at the mother-daughter duo again and realized that the daughter was probably in her early to mid-20's. I thought, "how shallow". I don't know, maybe I'm being mean, but there are so many other important things in life than a picture on your drivers licence.

This and That

Good Monday everyone! I hope you had a great weekend! We just bummed around all weekend. Saturday we just kind of hung out around the house and then went over to some friends house for dinner, and Sunday we had another lazy day. It feels so good to have a lazy weekend every once and a while, although I do go stir crazy if I sit around the house too long.
We bought a new game for our Wii. Its called Boom Blox and its a lot of fun. Last night was our first time playing it since we bought it, and I beat the pants off Ryan, so much so, he forfeited! (Shhh, don't tell him I told you that!) It is a fun game and a great game to play when you have people come over.
Adriana turned 19 months old on Friday. I can't believe how fast time has gone by! She still likes school, although last Wednesday was very traumatic for her (its a long story), and I was afraid she might not want to go back today, but she did really good. I feel so good about her going there, and I think she loves it so much.
I love having a little free time while she's at school. I'm still going to the gym and working out with the older folks, however I skipped today. I was out shopping today. I know, I know, I need to quit, but I went to Hobby Lobby and was in there for over an hour looking at the fall stuff. I LOVE FALL! I love the colors and the smells and I love to decorate for the season. I ended up putting a lot back on the shelves and didn't spend too much money.
Well, mom and dad are coming this weekend to look at houses. They have a contract on their house, contingent on the fact the that buyers sell their house. Its a very unsettling feeling not knowing if your coming or going. I know if its meant to be, it will happen and they will find a house they love down here. Adriana can't wait for Grandma and Grandpa to be closer so she can hang out with them more (she wishes she could be closer to her other grandparents too, maybe someday!).
Well, I better wrap things up. I'm still sorry there are no new pictures. We have had a time with our cameras and I still can't find the cord I need to connect to the computer. Its driving me crazy!

Not Very Stealth Like

This last weekend I have been working in Adriana's room. Everyone with a small child will understand, every few months you have to go to change out clothes, and pack away one's she has grown out of and change clothes for the season that is approaching. Anyway, I did all this this last weekend, and rearranged her room a little. It is taking longer than I thought. I had an old dresser in her closet that someone gave to us before she was born. It has worked out great in her closet providing a little extra storage. Well this weekend, we pulled it out and used it to replace the changing table, which is now in her closet. I plan on painting the dresser, but that will have to wait for now. Anyway, I packed away her changing table, wipe warmer, all the things that means that she isn't a baby anymore. It was very sad to make her room "toodlerfide" (which isn't a word, but you know what I mean). My baby is getting too big too fast! Its still a work in progress, I'll show pictures when it doesn't look like a pig sty. Anyway, on with the story, last night after I put Adriana to bed I realized that I left my cell phone in her room. I was so afraid that it would ring. I didn't get a call all day,but my luck it would ring as she was going to sleep, so I was beside myself worried about it. Now, I know what your thinking, "just go in and get it and stop all your whining", well its not that easy. My child is very alert of her surroundings and she would have had a melt down if she saw me enter her room after I put her to bed. So I waited and waited for her to go to sleep. Adriana is and always has been a very light sleeper. When I thought the coast was somewhat clear, I attempted to go in and get my phone. I knew she wasn't asleep yet, but I knew she at least had her eyes closed. She was laying facing the door (of course) so I got down on my hands and knees and crawled across her room to get my phone that was on top of her dresser. Get in, get the phone, and get out without making a noise, this was my mission. I'm sad to say, I failed. I crawled over the the dresser, maneuvering around piles of junk and I went to reach for the phone and knocked over the lamp, hit #1. She didn't move. I kept on my mission, I reached up and got my phone, but of course knocking over shoes that fell to a plastic sack, hit #2. Still no movement. In the meantime, Ryan is in the kitchen cleaning, and clanks the dishes loudly, I had left her door open and the sound was so loud in her room, hit #3. Still no movement. As I got close to the exit, my knee popped loud and I kicked a toy that hit the door, hit #4. All in all, she at least wasn't disturbed by her mothers clumsiness, I on the other hand was sweating bullets and sad that I had failed in my mission. All this hard work and...no calls on my phone.

Can't Sleep

I'm totally bummed right now. Its Sunday afternoon (my usual nap time) and I can't sleep. I was up all night last night. I had gone to bed around 10pm and fell into a nice deep sleep and then Adriana woke up crying around 11:30pm, due to a clogged up nose. I got her settled in and figured she would be up again, so I guess mentally I never allowed myself to go back to sleep. I was up until after 4am. I got in and out of bed all night. Its not uncommon for me not to sleep, I never have a good nights rest, so when that happens, I normally just toss and turn in bed instead of getting up. Last night however, the remains of Hurricane Ike rolled through the area and I'm telling you what, it sounded like we were in the middle of a wind tunnel. I'm sure a lot of you can relate, since a lot of people were affected by the same storm. I don't know if I have ever heard wind so loud and rain pounding the back windows so much in my life. I got up to kind of watch outside. Our house backs up into an open field, so we have no window treatments on the back side of the house. Off on the horizon in the back is part of the town of Ozark (about a mile away). You can see a McDonald's sign, a QT sign and a car dealership whose lot lights fill the darkness with light. I say all that to say all that light from the distance, makes out the silhouette of the trees blowing in the wind. I was afraid to stand too close to the windows thinking that at any moment the trees might snap in half and come flying threw the back of our house. It moved our furniture around on our deck and knocked over my new grill. I'm not complaining, we could have gotten it a lot worse. ANYWAY, back to my story, because of all of this, I just couldn't sleep. I was looking forward to taking a nap this afternoon while Adriana slept, but after laying in bed for about an hour and a half, I decided to get up. So Ryan, Zoe and Adriana are having sweet dreams right now, and I'm hunched over the computer writing a boring story that no one cares about. Well, if you're not asleep by now reading this, I will try to write something more peppy next time.

I'm off to start cleaning my house, so I better do it while I'm in the mood. I just wanted to write and say be patient with me about posting new pictures. I can't find the cord that connects my camera to the computer, once I do, I'll showcase new pictures.
I'm still fighting this head cold and am afraid it might be a sinus infection, I just want it gone!
I'll write more after my chores are done (which may be never).

Killing Time

Well, I guess I'll blog real quick while I wait for Adriana to go to sleep. She had school today and is normally beat down tired by the time she gets home because they don't nap while they are there. Today, she woke up at 6am so I know she's so tired, she even fell asleep on the way home from school. This was my mistake. She did this last week and that little 5-10 minute nap is just enough to recharge the child for another hour or so. She has been playing in her crib for the past hour, and I'm waiting for her to sleep so I can sleep. Yesterday I was sick as a dog. I guess I had a 24 hour stomach flu thing, or something, all I know was I wore the carpet out between my bed and the bathroom (too much information, sorry). Ryan had to stay home and take care of Adriana while I laid in bed all day. Anyway, I'm still tired from all of that, I still have a head cold, and my head is killing me, so I'm desperately wanting to take a nap.
When I was in town today, while Adriana was in school, I had planned on hitting some resale stores and trying to find her some shoes and a little light jacket. After I dropped Adriana off, I realized I didn't have my wallet with me (thanks to Ryan) or anything for that matter. Its amazing how much you need your wallet. I kept thinking, "well, I could charge it and pay the account back later", or "I'm thirsty and want a soda", or "I want to get a book at the library", well, you can't do ANY of it, without your wallet! I was very frustrated. Luckily everyone was nice to me, and the people at the bank let me get some money out without I.D. (I don't know if that's a good thing or not). Anyway, as dramatic as it was, I made it!
Well all I hear now is silence, that means the little one is down for the count (lets hope). I'm going to be a lazy bum and take a nap in the middle of the afternoon. I'll write more later.

Notes

Okay, I need to play catch up. We have been very busy the last few weeks, and I haven't really gotten to share all that has been going on. First of all, we had Ryan's parents here over the Labor Day weekend and thoroughly enjoyed them being here and spending a few days with us. We got to go to Branson for some shopping, we all got to play Ryan's newest toy the Nintendo Wii, my parents came down while Jim and Sandy were here and we got to go go-cart riding and just had a fun and relaxing weekend.
We just got back last night from Jeff City, where I was in my friend Tennille's wedding. It as a good time and it turned out beautifully.
The last few weeks we have been sick in our house. Adriana woke up from a nap the day before Jim and Sandy were suppose to be here and threw up everywhere all evening. I think its due to her "eye" teeth coming in. Then she got all stuffy nosed from teething too. Ryan got a head cold while his parents were here and he so lovingly shared it with me and I was sick for the wedding I was in this last weekend. I still feel like my head is in a fog. I hope to kick this thing within the next few days.
Another note, is that my parents are putting their house on the market to sell! They are wanting to move down this way to be closer to me, oh wait, that's not right, they want to be closer to Adriana. This is a big step for them. They both were born and raised in Jeff City and have never left town. They have always said that they would love to live in the Springfield area, but its hard to start fresh too. They would keep an apartment or trailer in Jeff City so that we might go back and visit friends and family that they would be leaving behind. They love their house and where they live so I hope and pray that they will find something they like just as much here and that the timing of their house selling and them finding one here will all work out. It would be a big help for us when they move down here. We have no family down this way so it makes it hard for us to run errands or whatever. It will be nice to have a reliable babysitter that I trust and know is looking out for the best interest of my child.
Well, I guess that's all my random thoughts for now. I had pictures of Ryan's parents when they were down here, but they are on my new camera, and I haven't downloaded the software yet so I can put pictures on my computer. Stay tuned for those. One more side note. I changed my "comment" status so hopefully you won't even have to sign in if you want to leave a comment on my blog. I hope it works!

Sweatin' with the Oldies

Well today was my first day to "workout" with my new gym membership. Let me tell you, I was about the youngest person in there. I like this gym a lot better than ones I have used in the past. We had belonged to one that was all young people, with ripped muscles and perfect bodies. I always felt fat, and frumpy when around those kind of people. This gym that I joined now, is totally opposite. Its "real" people. There's no loud music, the trainers aren't 19 year olds on steroids, its a great gym for us imperfect people. This was the first time I have really worked out since Adriana was born. (I'm ashamed to admit that, but its the truth). I ran/walked a mile, rode a bike for 3 miles and lifted weights, I didn't over do it, but I feel good with what I did get done.
Now I'm not kidding when I say that there are a bunch of older people that are there. They have a work out class for people with Arthritis in the early morning. If truth be told, I would prefer older people to younger people. I feel less intimidated by them. Everyone there is really nice. There was this older lady, i would say in her 70's or so that was on the treadmill next to me. Then when I went to the bike, she jumped on one too. Then when I went downstairs to go lift weights, she was pumping iron with me there too. I had noticed her and how fragile she was, and when I went to go lift weights on some machine she came over and told me I was doing it wrong and showed me the right way to do it. I hate those machines anyway, because I always have to look at the picture on how to use them without letting everyone know I have no idea what I'm doing, but then to have this little 90lbs lady show me how to leg presses, I just felt stupid.
I want to be clear, I am not, for one minute, making fun of older people, I love them. I just have never seen so many active and working out in a gym, everyday. My hat is off to them. I hope that 50 years from now, I can show some young whipper snapper how to work out properly.
